Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Les Chaumes 2015
Deep red. Distinctly wild aromas of black raspberry, violet, leather and game. Generous, vibrant and a deep earthy minerality.
Les Chaumes is situated just below Aux Malconsorts and La Tache. It has a little more clay and iron in the soil than most of the Vosne 1er cru sites and this tends to bring more thunder and mouth coating structure than we might typically expect of a young Vosne. With age, as these tannins melt, the Vosne component of the wine comes to the fore, exploding with perfume and texture. It often needs a year or two to show at its absolute best although the 2015 is already singing. Lachaux’s vines are 40 years old and he used 80% whole bunch and 20% new oak.

Reviews
Deep red. Distinctly wild aromas of black raspberry, violet, leather and game. Very rich and fine-grained, conveying an impression of medicinal reserve to its complex flavors of raspberry, black cherry, licorice and wild herbs. Offers a superb combination of clarity and depth. Finishes juicy and long, with serious ripe tannins and a repeating leathery nuance.90-93 pointsVinous
