Pierre Gaillard Côte-Rôtie 2016
The Côte-Rôtie is a blend of 90% Syrah (co-fermented with 10% Viognier) from the shistes of Fongeant and Viallière (Ampuis) and a parcel of vines at Semons in the southern sector. All the fruit is harvested by hand with a strict selection so that only the ripest bunches and berries make it into the final blend. It is 100% destemmed and the vinification is traditional with 5-7 days pre-fermentation, long maceration and regular punch downs. The wine then spends 18 months in barrique, 40% new. Bottled unfiltered.
